I'm an indie author and a scribbler of inane babble. I talk about books I've read/liked. Or at least, that's the plan.
Most of the reviews will be considered "mini-reviews." Usually, it's mostly my reaction to what I've been reading. There are people who are far better at doing full and helpful reviews. But I still have fun doing them, and hope you enjoy them!
Reading progress update: I've read 75%.
"The Dead Hand Loves You" is right now my favorite story overall. It's going to be really tough to beat that one.
I'm not trying to oversell this, but it's so damned hard not to. This could be my favorite book of '14. It'll definitely be on my list of favorite short story collections. Unless these last two stories are absolute stinkers--and I really doubt that--I don't see how this won't get a solid five stars from me. It's brilliant. With the exception of a few shorter ones, most of the stories are healthy in length and feel like mini-novels. They remind me a lot of the stories of Alice Munro. Full with rich characters and story.
