I'm an indie author and a scribbler of inane babble. I talk about books I've read/liked. Or at least, that's the plan.
Most of the reviews will be considered "mini-reviews." Usually, it's mostly my reaction to what I've been reading. There are people who are far better at doing full and helpful reviews. But I still have fun doing them, and hope you enjoy them!
Bloggers/reviewers should never ever feel threatened for writing an unfavorable review. Anybody who tries to instill fear into a blogger or reviewer is an absolute ass-hat.
And if you actually stalk a reviewer and show up at their house... Seek help. Immediately. And stop writing books, because clearly you can't handle it if a bad review or two rubs you the wrong way.
I fully support anybody who's participating in the Blogger Blackout today. I admit, I just heard about it this morning but almost immediately knew why it was taking place.
The story is sickening. It didn't have to happen. It shouldn't have happened.
A word to my fellow authors: Getting negative reviews hurt and suck, but they happen. It's part of the game. We're not obligated to read reviews. They're not for us. They're for readers. I read a few here and there because I like to have a general idea of what people think of my work, and to see if there's room for improvement on my part (there always is).
And also because I know I'm mature enough not to show up at a reviewer's home because he or she hurt my effin' feelings. If I get my feelings hurt over a review, I pour myself a glass of scotch and call it a night.
